Meet The Pomsky Northerns Team
Marsh and Alisa Morford family
We live on a beautiful rural homestead in Utah where, as a combined family effort, we raise goats, sheep, pigs, chickens, a large garden and our 9 beautiful home-schooled children. We are a tight-knit family with a strong work ethic and love for animals. Over a decade ago, we developed a dog-sledding business. Not only have our kids competed in (and won) dog sledding competitions, we also offer to the public the once-in-a-lifetime experience of riding a dog sled up in the beautiful, snowy Utah mountains! We really enjoy our talented Huskies. You can see some video clips of our sled dogs below:
Then, later, our love for the northern spitz dogs lead us to join forces with our close friends, the DeMilles, and Pomsky Northerns. Heather DeMille educated and mentored us for a number of years in the Pomsky breed, which we have truly fallen in love with! It is now one of our family's main focuses, to bring these amazing, adorable puppies into the world and raise them in a loving, family environment.
Yes, it is truly a family effort, and our children play with and get attached to every puppy born here - your puppy from Pomsky Northerns will come to you pre-loved!
When you adopt your next pet from us, you can rest assured that your pet has been bred and raised by someone with experience; thoughtfully and with purpose - taking temperament, health, conformation, genetics & talent into consideration.
Alma and Heather DeMille family.
Alma and Heather DeMille each have a long history breeding, training and loving animals since their youth. Combined, they have over 60 years of experience. This is what they do. It is not just a hobby for them, it is their passion, career and family lifestyle! They don't do this to compete in shows and earn accolades, but to raise high quality animals that bring years of joy, entertainment and companionship to their owners. Why? Because they love animals, and enjoy sharing them with others. Their many years of experience and study have given them an eye for excellence, and they have consistently sought education as they became experts in their fields. Heather studied Biology and Genetics in college, and has also taken and passed the intense AKC Dog breeding courses. She is especially educated and interested in the color genetics of both dogs and horses. She has been training dogs since the young age of 10. Alma DeMille spent his childhood years assisting his veterinary Grandfather, studied animal nutrition & husbandry in college, and is a nationally recognized farrier, breeder, trainer and clinician, with a particular interest in Gaited horses - known for producing the best of the best for health, athleticism and a smooth ride! In the past he has also owned and trained hunting dogs, earning AKC field trial titles.
Many years ago they bred Siberian Huskies and Alaskan Malamutes. Then, about 10 years ago the notion of a Pomsky was brought to their attention. At that time, Pomskies were more of an extremely popular idea, and less of a reality. In fact, the original pictures of "Pomskies" that went viral weren't even Pomskies, just puppies of other breeds (like purebred huskies). This idea of creating a fluffy, miniature husky intrigued them. They started researching the genetics, and decided to get on board with creating this new breed! As Pomsky Northerns, they were one of the first 8 breeders to join the International Pomsky Association, and together with these other foundation breeders, have had a wonderful experience successfully creating what the Pomsky is today!
For them, this has been an adventure of a lifetime!
